Let's face it. I'm a tiny guppy in a huge pond of established and innovative education bloggers, so I am so appreciative of every single visit and follower at my blog. That's why it was a really nice surprise to be nominated for a Liebster Blog Award by Michaela at The Center Based Classroom. Not that I think my blog is award-deserving, by any means. I'm just thrilled that my blog got noticed and that other educators find my content useful!
UPDATE: I received another nomination within a day of writing this post, so I'm going to link to my new blogger friend, Dallas, at Nerdy, Nerdy, Nerdy, too. Thanks for thinking of me, Dallas!

Of course, I had to look up what a Liebster Blog Award is. My two years of high school German plus a lifetime of being the daughter of a German teacher helped me to recognize the word "liebe" in the word, which translates "love," but that's about it. I found that the Liebster Award is a way bloggers spread the word about fellow bloggers whose blogs have fewer than 200 followers. Once a blogger receives the award, he or she nominates other bloggers, and hopefully more up-and-coming blogs get exposure in the blogosphere.
Thank you, Michaela and Dallas, and to everyone who has visited and decided to follow my blog. I'm inspired to continue to aspire to inspire (ha ha)!

To accept the nomination, I need to do a few things:
- I'm linking back to Michaela at The Center Based Classroom and Dallas at Nerdy, Nerdy, Nerdy.
- I'm nominating 5 more blogs that have fewer than 200 followers.
- I'm answering 11 questions created by Michaela and 11 questions created by Dallas.
- I'm listing 11 random facts about myself.
- I'm creating 11 questions for my nominees to answer.
I'm nominating these interesting and eye-catching blogs for Liebster Awards. I tried to do my due diligence in researching them to see if they have fewer than 200 followers and if they've already been nominated.
Verena at Diary of a Fifth Grade Teacher
Chris at Owl About Us
Jennifer at The Blessed Teacher
Danielle at Busy Little Brainiacs
Jenn at Teaching2Stinkers
If you've already been nominated or have way more than 200 followers, just bask in the "liebe" of Liebster and know that you have a lot of fans!
Michaela's questions
1. What is your favorite subject to teach?
Social Studies! It's been pushed to the back burner with the focus on Math and Reading--both of which are important. However, I saw a great quote that sums up why we need social studies: "How can we know who we are if we don't know where we've been?"
2. What is your favorite book?
I still go to the children's department at the library to find my pleasure reading books! My favorites are Ramona Forever by Beverly Cleary and Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt.
3. Do you have a piece of clothing or an accessory you can't live without?
my Crocs
4. Do you have any pets? If so what kind and what are their names?
No pets. We tried a puppy once, but that didn't work out. If we ever get a dog, he or she will have to be very well-trained and self-sufficient.
5. What was your first job?
I bagged groceries at Kroger.
6. What is your favorite type of school supply?
sticky notes!
7. What is the most played song on your iTunes?
Love Song by Tesla
8. What is the last movie you saw?
Can't remember which one I saw last...The Impossible starring Naomi Watts or Jurassic Park starring dinosaurs
9. Have you ever been out of the country? Where did you visit?
Yes--I've been England, France (I studied there for a summer), Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Ukraine, Jamaica, and Canada.
10. What is your favorite hobby? (outside of blogging!)
I really want it to be golf, but we don't really go that often. Most likely, it's trying different kinds of handicrafts.
11. If you weren't a teacher, what would you be?
a tour guide in some fantastically historical ancient city
1. Favorite salad dressing?
mmm...warm honey mustard
2. Worst movie you've ever seen?
Fight Club, total waste of my time. The title should have been a big giveaway.
3. Favorite vacation spot you've been to?
Florida Keys
4. One place you want to visit before you die?
New Zealand, so lovely!
5. Favorite subject to teach?
Social Studies
6. Dessert - yes or no?
Yes, a little something sweet to finish off a meal
7. Favorite way to unwind after a crazy day at school?
pig out at a Mexican restaurant
8. Do you tweet? If so, who's your fave person to follow?
I seldom tweet, and I don't tweet enough to see who else is tweeting so no favorite.
9. Star Trek or Star Wars? (You can't say neither. Be creative.)
Star Wars, lots of memories playing with the action figures
10. Favorite holiday or celebration?
Christmas
11. One age you'd NEVER want to be again?
swimming around in the junior high fish bowl, too young to be independent and too old not to care about all the drama
