"Grammargories are Great!"

Pin It Now! I was over-the-moon when I read this message on my Facebook page from Sidney at http://teachingisagift.blogspot.ca: "Just wanted to tell you that my grade 6 gifted class is now OBSESSED with Grammargories. I used your FREEBIE, and the kids are hooked. They came up with 64 more titles to use! They said, and I quote, 'Why didn't we do this ALL year?!' You know you have a great product when gifted kids comment like that! Thanks for sharing your awesome idea!"

Just for background, Grammargories is based on Scattergories, one of my favorite games. I adapted the concept of the game such that students would review and apply their knowledge of parts of speech by completing themed lists with parts of speech related to the theme.

Grammargories: The Freebie is part of the Grammargories and Vocabugories Bundle I created. The bundle extends the game with 18 additional Grammargories parts-of-speech lists and Vocabugories lists covering various vocabulary and language studies (synonyms, antonyms, homophones, homonyms, multi-syllabic words, more complex parts of speech, figurative language, and literary devices). My Grammargories and Vocabugories bundle was featured in the TpT newsletter on Sunday, April 28, as part of their Featured Teacher-Author article about Aspire to Inspire!

    Thank you so much for sharing this awesome *freebie*. I LOVE the game Scattergories. Games like this are so much fun...the kiddos often do not realize they are still learning and they are taking their learning to a much deeper level. =)

    Hi, Susan! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Grammargories can definitely be adapted to 3rd grade once students learn about all the parts of speech. It might even be a good idea to do the lists as a class to help them get the hang of it!

      Hi again Kristen, I just happened to be enjoying some blog visiting, and saw you had replied to an earlier comment I had made. I usually subscribe to the comment through email, but since you opened up a new comment I suppose an email notice did generate. I agree that Grammargories can definitely be adapted to 3rd. We teach the basics, nouns, verbs, adjectives and pronouns, and now with common core, we teach adverbs. I plan to "adapt" it. My kiddos love learning games!
